Product Overview
This stunning replica Sperm Whale Tooth is part of the collection at the Nantucket Whaling Museum. The title of this tooth is called "A View of Brant Point 1842". It is a replica of an Antique Tooth that was originally made by Artek for the Nantucket Whaling Museum. The scene is of Nantucket in the 1800's. The original was etched over 100 years ago. The reproduced tooth is currently made in our office in Fall River, MA.
The tooth is depicting a horizontal scene of Brant Point with two three masted ships in foreground and lighthouse between them. On the right a ship, on camels, is being towed into the harbor by a tug boat and the ship on the left is displayed on the wharf.
The replica Sperm Whale Teeth is finished to give it the appearance of an antique tooth. It also had ridges and edges similar to that of our real tooth. This beautiful replica Sperm Whale Tooth weighs 24.51 ounces. The dimensions are 7.5" x 3.12"x 2.67". The item number is SP - 03.
The resin scrimshaw piece is hand etched on corian, which cuts like ivory. We then make a mold of the original piece and do an open cast pour of our resin mixture. The pieces are removed from the mold and sanded and inked.
We believe that serving nature is one of the commissions that we as humans have been given here on earth. We wish to lend our resources to those charged with protecting elephants from poaching for their ivory.
On a monthly basis we donate to organizations whose purpose to protect the elephants and other species throughout the planet. We focus our donations on organizations that put the money to good use and have a low overhead. With the majority of incoming funds going back to saving the elephants!
